Here's a card with a very unique function, much like, but more powerful
than trample. This ability is also very much akin to a red damage source,
capable of dealing damage directly to the player. It might, therefore, be a
great idea to combine the 2 powers (red and green), and build a deck that
attempts to overpower the opponent with direct damage. Given the focus
in m20 on elemental-type creatures, this would be a promising candidate
for team captain, in a Historic format. You might look at hexproofing
abilities, such as Blinding Fog, to protect an investment like this creature,
since keeping it alive (after getting it into play) will be the biggest drawback
to casting it. A big-cost should yield a strong result, and Thorn Elemental
gives you a more certain way of dealing damage repeatedly (which is the
greatest benefit of using permanent-type spells). There's a lot to consider
when formulating a deck around this card, so be sure to carefully analyze
the possible conflicts, and weigh them against the card's benefits.
