2/2/19 - "Speed-read THIS!" Remember "speed reading"? Stop and think about it. You really think there are "geniuses" who can meaningfully comprehend a book in a matter of a few minutes? "WOW! This guy's a phenomenon! But, they say, anyone can do it! I should get started!" Get real. All they do is scan for key points, and give you a bullshit synopsis of a book, in terms of basic content. There's absolutely no point in doing it, and it's not impressive at all. In fact, if you DID devote time to "speed reading" a book, you are displaying a lack of intelligence. You KNOW, full well, that you didn't learn anything from what you "read". Reading must be done thoughtfully, in long pauses, to reflect upon the implications of the writing. If you aren't reading something that does that to you, there's no point in reading that book Try speed reading one of my papers. You'd be like, "Weird shit!" But, if you think about what I wrote, it turns out to be profoundly reasonable and sane, not weird at all. My use of language is unusual, as I am genuinely trying to achieve higher communication, and convey complex ideas. I look at ideas like "speed reading" as ideologically produced garbage that only serves as a trivial fetish for oblivious morons. I know, I know... That's harsh, and all... But, believe it or not, it is THE TRUTH, and the truth should never be trivialized or ignored. Things like THIS are what create ignorance in the population. Jump on the bandwagon. It's scientific achievement. |
