6/9/19 - "Bear Your Cross" What is a person's "name"? A scientist might say, that it is merely a means of identification. A serial number might serve the same purpose. But, given such a number, the "ring" of saying it would take on an underlying meaning, as a human being always affects complex experience on some audience. The "name" of a person, then, is an identifier that has malleable quality, and is constantly crafted by the person that it identifies. The person behind a name, therefore, is inherently an artist... But, say that you purposefully neglect that art. Instead of willingly working with the palette that God has given them, the person rejects any notion about individuality, and favors an obedience to social acceptance. For this, they are rewarded psychologically, and it assures them that they will eventually be prime candidates for the earning of money, and then they can simply set a smooth sail into achieving life's primary goals - They will marry, reproduce, and gain a status position in society. It seems, that they had nothing to lose and everything to gain!... Except, the significance of their "name". You might disagree, saying that everyone has a meaningful name, and when you hear it, it conveys a lot of unique and interesting information... But, who, honestly, do you find yourself delving into for an expedition of unpredictable discovery? In the deadened world I was born into, names really do seem to be not much more than a means of identification. Hear me out - There's always a real POTENTIAL underlying anyone's name, but almost no one becomes what their creator intended them to be. They simply favor the group, who has decided for them what they are, and their lives are not a mystery at all. We all went to school, found careers, and formed families... Or, we didn't succeed at this, and should be considered a "loser". SO... Say a name! Consider it carefully... Now, do you think about much more than simple ideological terms? "Winner", "loser", "dork, "player", "star", "professional", "criminal", "parent", "spouse"... You might begin to designate a person into some variety of sociological roles, but whatever would make them truly interesting is absent in your description. Perhaps, it is too easy to isolate a given person as one of these typical terms. This person, above all, is an "athlete". Yep! They stand out as a true physical phenomenon! Just look at those abs! He deserves someone from the first line of "hotties"! And someday, he might be a great "soldier"! *sigh....* Just think of all the "honor" he might achieve!... Well, when I think about a guy like that, all I really see is a manufactured reality. The "American Dream" really is, in a literal sense, a mental process akin to dreaming while asleep. Just like in dreams, everything that these people know is being dictated to them by suggestion. Think back to one of your nightmares. A dream can be scary only because you believe that it is actually occurring. Sometimes, you might even think that you have woken up, only to find that you were still dreaming! A lot of people might join the military thinking that they are being dutiful citizens with a good cause in their hearts, and be rudely awakened by the terror of war. They find suddenly, that they are being ordered to do things that threaten their lives, and they know (at least subconsciously) that their task is insane. "Go to the front line and stand your ground!" ...Why is it that so many soldiers go AWOL? Then, they are forsaken to American street-life (because they must forfeit the government's financial support, when it can no longer know of their existence), and are considered "criminals" or "losers". A truly smart person will realize the significance of their name, and they won't forfeit it with the idea in mind that they are doing something "honorable". To die in war is meaningless, but the inherent value of a human being should be preserved at all costs. Even if you become vilified by your society, you should only ever do what your heart compels you to do, rather than allow others to convince you to obey an agenda, which you have found to be devoid of the promises that God would give you. If you don't believe that, maybe it is that your creator made you no promise... To me, a name is a promise. It means something when said, and to just die without anything interesting ever having happened would be some sort of betrayal. I am the master of my own destiny. Let no one consume my life into subservience to theirs. If anyone asks you to forfeit anything that makes you feel real, just say "No". Don't risk your life. Don't waste your time. Think constantly. Make sure other people aren't lying when they ask you to believe them. Who among you is a leader? Many of you try to make yourselves the "boss". But, if you aren't a leader, why should you be the "boss"? I'm the boss. Enjoy your cross. |
